VRYBURG/GANYESA — Shock and anger continue to mount across the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District after the South African Policing Union (SAPU) condemned the murder of Constable Boikanyo Molale (30), whose body was discovered in Thokoza Section, Ganyesa, around 05:30 on Saturday, 25 October 2025.
According to police, Molale — who was attached to Ganyesa Visible Policing — was allegedly assaulted by an unknown number of assailants.
Initially, two suspects aged 22 and 27 were arrested, but police have since confirmed that four suspects have now appeared in court. Their case has been postponed to 03 November 2025 for further investigation.

In a statement, SAPU North West said it was “deeply saddened and outraged” by the killing of the off-duty officer, welcoming the swift arrests and urging investigators to work with urgency to ensure justice is served.
The union reiterated its call for tougher measures against attacks on law enforcement officers, describing such crimes as “a direct assault on law and order.” SAPU extended condolences to Molale’s family, friends, and colleagues, and urged all members to remain vigilant both on and off duty.
On local social media, friends, community members, and former schoolmates expressed disbelief and grief, sharing photographs of the young constable and calling for justice. Many described him as respectful and dedicated, with several posts saying the community has been “robbed of a good soul.” Condolences have continued to pour in across the district.
Acting North West Provincial Commissioner Maj Gen (Dr) Ryno Naidoo also extended condolences to the Molale family and directed investigators to ensure that all suspects are brought to justice swiftly.
Police have appealed to anyone with additional information to contact their nearest station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
