The Phokwane Local Municipality has announced with deep sadness the passing of its former Mayor, Mrs. Keosentseng “Sentse” Kalman, describing her as “a true champion of community development.”

Mrs. Kalman, who was inaugurated as Mayor in August 2016, is remembered for her unwavering commitment to uplifting communities through impactful initiatives and genuine engagement. Known for her straightforward approach and firmness in decision-making, she earned widespread respect from colleagues and residents alike.

Her career in local government began as a municipal Team Leader, later advancing to the position of Manager in the Political Office. There, she refined her leadership skills and championed community-driven problem-solving. Her passion for development, transparency, and connecting with residents was a hallmark of her service.

In a statement issued on 8 August 2025, the municipality extended heartfelt condolences to the Kalman family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working with her.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace,” the statement read.

Mrs. Kalman’s leadership and dedication leave behind a lasting legacy in Pampierstad, Hartswater, and Jan Kempdorp, the communities she served with distinction.
