Ottosdal violent protests an outcome of political and governance mismanagement – DA

As state properties are continuing to become victim to acts of protesters who are unhappy about a variety of issues in the Tswaing Local Municipality areas , including nonpayment of salaries of public service workers , disgruntled community members who are unhappy about the lack of service delivery in their communities, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the North West Province has called for calm.

According to the DA’s Spokesperson , Freddy Sonakile, these protest come as a result of poor governance, lack of basic service delivery, poor road conditions, lack of sports infrastructure, ongoing water shortages and rampant corruption.

A memorandum is alleged to have been handed over to the relevant stakeholders over 3 weeks ago, but that the municipality made no attempt to address the community’s concerns.

“It further came to our attention that the Municipal Manager, Isaac Moruti, is on sick leave following a fall-out with the Mayor, Lydia Malwane.” Sonakile said.

“We can no longer stand by and watch while factionalism within the ANC hampers service delivery.” He said

The Opposition party intends to write to the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Mothibedi Kegakilwe, requesting him to urgently attend to the community’s concerns.
