Naledi Local Municipality Pays Tribute to Former Premier Bushy Maape

Naledi Local Municipality has joined the growing number of organisations and leaders paying tribute to former North West Premier and struggle veteran, Kaobitsa “Bushy” Maape, following his passing over the weekend.

In a condolence message issued by Mayor Cllr Clifton J. Groep, the municipality described Maape as a dedicated and humble leader who served the people with commitment and integrity.

“With deep sadness and a heavy heart, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of former North West Premier, struggle veteran, and son of Vryburg, Mr Kaobitsa ‘Bushy’ Maape,” the statement read.

The municipality further conveyed its sympathies to the Maape family, friends, comrades, and the broader community during the difficult period of mourning.

Maape, who hailed from Vryburg, played a significant role in the liberation struggle and later served in various leadership positions in government, including as Premier of the North West Province. He was widely recognised for his contribution to governance, education, and public service in the province.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we all find strength and comfort in his legacy,” the municipality said.

Tributes continue to pour in from political leaders, government institutions, and community members across the province, remembering Maape as a respected leader and servant of the people.
