MOROKWENG — The streets of Morokweng came alive on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, as community members, schools and local stakeholders held a convoy and celebration in honour of Temogo Matong, following his outstanding performance in the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
Matong, a learner from Setswakgosing Secondary School, was recently recognised during the national results announcement as the top achiever in Quintile 2—a major accolade that placed him among the country’s standout performers.

In a congratulatory message, Setswakgosing Secondary School also highlighted a string of achievements attributed to Matong’s results, indicating that he ranked number one among Quintile 2 schools in the province, and further led in key subjects including Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Geography.
The convoy, which began at Setswakgosing Secondary School and moved through the village, drew support from residents and learners who gathered to applaud Matong’s milestone and celebrate what many described as a proud moment for Morokweng and the wider Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.
Organisers said the event was intended not only to honour Matong, but to motivate other learners to pursue academic excellence and to reinforce the value of discipline, consistent study and community support.
Matong’s achievement is expected to serve as an inspiration as schools settle into the new academic year, with local leaders and educators urging learners to use the moment as proof that high performance is possible regardless of a school’s location or resources.
