In accordance to the Gazetted regulations of 29 April 2020, regarding General measures to contain the spread of COVID -19 in South Africa, the wearing of masks has taken centre stage.

The regulation says that persons must wear a cloth face mask or a homemade item that covers the nose and mouth when in a public place, or another appropriate item to cover the nose and mouth. Furthermore no person will be allowed to use any form of public transport, or enter a building, place or premises, if they do not wear a cloth face mask or a homemade item that covers
the nose and mouth when in a public place, or another appropriate item to cover the nose and mouth.

The majority of Town goers in Vryburg were seen complying to the such a regulation. These people walked around town, patiently waited in lines to enter retail stores and also entered these retailers’ door wearing some form of face projection. Homemade masks were the order of the day on Wednesday, 06 May 2020, amongst crowds that were gathered in the small town for purposes of essential services and essentials shopping.
