VRYBURG – A 32-year-old woman is expected to appear before the Vryburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 August 2026, after she was arrested for the attempted murder of another woman who was allegedly scalded with boiling water in Pholarpark, Rosendal, on Friday afternoon.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), Huhudi police responded to a complaint and, upon arriving at the scene, found a 32-year-old victim with severe burn injuries to her upper body. Police said the woman was in severe pain and unable to speak.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were immediately called to the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was admitted for medical treatment.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the incident allegedly occurred during an argument between the two women, during which the suspect allegedly poured boiling water over the victim.

North West Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Arthur Adams condemned the incident, urging community members to resolve disputes peacefully.

“No disagreement justifies an act of violence that places another person’s life at risk,” he said.

Lt Gen Adams also commended the swift response of the Huhudi police officers and reaffirmed SAPS’ commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of violent crime are brought before the courts to face the consequences of their actions.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
