SUN CITY — Former Naledi Local Municipality municipal manager Modisenyane Thompson Segapo has added fresh intrigue to the North West Provincial Legislature’s ongoing Ad Hoc Committee hearings after posting a pointed message on social media suggesting a combative appearance when he takes the stand, on Tuesday, 27 January 2026

In a post shared shortly before the commencement the today’s proceedings, Segapo wrote: “I’m bringing all the smoke… Tighten your seatbelts if you’re driving. Don’t spill that coffee on yourself, so drink it only during comfort breaks. Ask your municipalities to erect Public Viewing Areas like it’s FIFA World Cup.”

The message, widely interpreted as a warning that his testimony could be explosive, comes as the Legislature’s Ad Hoc Committee continues to hear evidence linked to allegations against member(s) of the legislature by Cllr. Clifton J. Groep. The hearings are being held at the Sun City Convention Centre and are streamed live on the North West Provincial Legislature’s official Facebook page.

Committee proceedings resumed this week with testimony from former Naledi Director: Corporate Services Thabo Appolus. The committee is chaired by Hon Nathan Oliphant.

At this stage, Segapo said, at the beginning of his testimony on Tuesday, that he will publicly expand on what specific information he intends to place on record before the committee, but his post has heightened public interest and expectations around his evidence.
