SUN CITY – The Chairperson of the North West Provincial Legislature (NWPL) Ad Hoc Committee probing allegations raised by Naledi Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Clifton J Groep, against member(s) of the Legislature, Hon Nathan Oliphant, has announced that North West Premier, Hon Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi, will appear before the committee to present his evidence, on Saturday 31 January 2026, at 8am.

Oliphant made the announcement during his closing remarks as the committee adjourned proceedings on Thursday, 30 January 2026, and at the end of Friday’s session, signalling the continuation of hearings into the matter.

The committee was established after the Speaker of the NWPL, Hon Dr Desbo Mohono, appointed an Ad Hoc Committee in terms of Rule 187 of the Standing Rules of the NWPL, following allegations made by Cllr Groep against Premier Mokgosi. The appointment was made in consultation with political parties represented in the Legislature.

The Ad Hoc Committee has been tasked with processing the allegations through a formal legislative process, with proceedings aimed at being conducted in line with fairness and the Legislature’s oversight responsibilities. Further details on the Premier’s appearance and the committee programme are expected to be communicated by the Legislature.
