Increased Recovery Percentage in the North West Province… and the work continues …

The Department of Health in the North West Province has to date tested a total of 164 people for the novel Coronavirus. 28% of the 49% that were tested are confirmed as negative, 12% of those are pending results. 1 person has been reported by the Provincial Department to be in a critical condition.

Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday, 14 April 2020, reported an increase in positive cases of COVID19 in South Africa. “As at today, the total number of confirmed COVID19 cases in South Africa is 2415.” said the Minister.

In the North West Province MEC Madoda Sambatha together with Deputy Minister in the Presidency Thembi Siweya are expected to support Rustenburg Health Sub District’s Covid19 field workers for mass screening, testing and contact tracing on Wednesday, 15 April 2020. The delegation will be focusing on Tlhabane and Geelhoutpark areas. The areas were earlier identified by the Provincial Department as critical control points where massive containment of the virus should be performed. Today, 14 April 2020, the work continued as the North West Provincial Command Council chaired by Premier of the North West Province, Prof Job Mokgoro sat in a meeting assessing the work and progress made in the implementation of the Provincial Response Plan to COVID-19 in the last three weeks.

The Council also received an update on the ongoing roll out of the Mass COVID-19 Screening, Testing and Contact Tracing Programme which was launched by the Premier seven days ago at Motswedi village near Zeerust.
