Bloemhof 21-year-old Tests Positive to CoronaVirus

On Monday, 23 March 2020, the North West Province citizens woke to the news of an outbreak in the Province. The Minister of Health, Dr. Zweli Mkhize announced, on the day that 4 people had tested positive for COVID19 in the North West Province.

To date, a total number of people who have tested positive for CoronaVirus are now at 5 in the North West Province, while the country’s total positive cases currently is expected to surpass the 1000 mark today, 26 March 2020. Worldwide however the number of confirmed positive cases have now in the 500 000s.

Of the 5 confirmed cases in the North West Province, one case is that of an outbreak in the Dr. Ruth Segomutsi Mompati District, in Bloemhof. According to the Department of Health in the North West Province, this patient is said to have attended church in Bloemfontein and is a 21 year old female. “She was in contact with visitors from European countries. The patient is asymptomatic and is self-quarantined. Contact tracing in is underway.” Said the MEC of Health in the North West Province, Madoda Sambatha.

In Africa, South Africa currently has the most positive reported cases for COVID19. The country the country has today, reported its first two deaths. This is also as the country marks its first day of the planned national lockdown for 21 days.
