Police would like to urge members of the community in Boitekong outside Rustenburg to assist in solving a double murder case. On Thursday, 8 August 2019, at about 19:00, a male was allegedly shot and killed by unknown assailants as he walked down a street in Sondela informal settlement.

According to information available at this stage, a two-year-old child who was playing in the same area when the incident occurred, was hit by a stray bullet.  The child was rushed to the local clinic, but died on arrival.  As a result, the police are investigating two counts of murder.
