POTCHEFSTROOM — Police in the North West have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Kgotso Mogale Rasebitsi (30) in Mosiane View, Mahikeng.
In a statement issued on Sunday, 8 February 2026, the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, praised officers for what he described as swift action that led to the arrests.
According to SAPS, members of the Mahikeng Public Order Police (POP) were on patrol on Saturday morning, 7 February 2026, when they received reports of a fight in the area. Officers responded and found men sitting under a tree at the corner of Kubu and Mosese streets.

Police then proceeded to a nearby shack where they noticed blood on the floor, leading to the discovery of Rasebitsi’s body inside the shack. He had multiple stab wounds and was declared dead at the scene by Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).
Police say further investigations linked two men found at the scene to the murder, and they were arrested. The suspects, aged 25 and 34, are expected to appear in the Mahikeng Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 February 2026, facing a charge of murder.
