North West Gears Up for the Return of the South African Music Awards

The North West Province is preparing to welcome South Africa’s biggest music celebration after it was announced that the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) will return to Sun City in August 2026.

The 32nd edition of the prestigious awards ceremony will take place during Women’s Month, bringing together some of the country’s leading musicians, producers, industry professionals and music lovers under one roof.

The North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation has welcomed the return of the awards, describing it as a significant boost for the province’s arts, culture and entertainment sector. The department said the event reaffirms North West’s reputation as a destination capable of hosting world-class cultural events.

The SAMAs were last hosted in the province during the successful 28th edition in August 2022. Their return is expected to generate excitement among local artists and create economic opportunities for businesses in the tourism, hospitality and entertainment industries.

Scheduled for 15 August 2026 at the Sun City Superbowl, the awards will once again shine a spotlight on excellence, creativity and achievement in South African music. Organisers say the event will celebrate the country’s vibrant music industry while showcasing North West as a hub for culture, entertainment and major events.

As anticipation builds, music fans across the province are looking forward to welcoming some of South Africa’s biggest stars back to North West for another memorable edition of the SAMAs.
