According to notices shared by the African National Congress (ANC) and the Office of the Premier, a provincial memorial service will be held on Thursday, 21 May 2026 at 12h00 at the Mmabatho Civic Centre in Mahikeng.

A second memorial service is scheduled to take place in Vryburg on Friday, 22 May 2026 at 11h00 at Huhudi Hall, where community members, political leaders, friends, and supporters are expected to gather to pay their final respects to the former premier and son of Vryburg.

The official funeral service will then be held on Saturday, 23 May 2026 at 08h00 at Huhudi Stadium in Vryburg.

Maape, remembered as a struggle stalwart, former political prisoner, and public servant, passed away in Johannesburg after a short illness surrounded by his family.

Tributes have continued to pour in from political organisations, government institutions, and community members across the province, with many describing him as a humble and dedicated leader who played a significant role in the liberation struggle and development of the North West Province.

The ANC, alliance partners, and provincial government structures are expected to attend the services alongside residents from across the province.
