On Wednesday, 10 July, the Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) conducted municipal By-Elections in the Matlosana Local Municipality’s Ward 30, in Stilfontein. As a result of this, the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) came out tops, winning 56% of the votes and won more votes than all the other parties that participated in the elections put together. This is a ward that has recently enjoyed a Democratic Alliance (DA) support.

According to the FF Plus National Leader, Pieter Groenewald, the results of the by-Election show how his party has become an alternative to the DA. “The residents of Ward 30 voted for better service delivery and the FF Plus’s promise of hope and strong opposition against the ANC.” Groenewald said .

“These results prove that the FF Plus is the growing alternative and it is a clear indication of voters’ confidence in the party. The FF Plus listens to its supporters and then takes decisive action in their interest.” He further said.

Fanie Kloppers was elected as ward councillor. According to the FF Plus , he is passionate about the community and is expected to put the interests of residents first.
