Huhudi — Police have confirmed that a fetus was discovered at the Huhudi Transfer Station (dumping site) on Monday, 16 February 2026, leading to the opening of a criminal case.
Responding to a media enquiry by The Vryburg Independent Post Team, Warrant Officer Van Rooyen confirmed that SAPS members attended the scene near Huhudi Clinic and behind the Huhudi Library after being alerted by a municipal employee who made the discovery.
According to police, the fetus was declared dead at the time of discovery.

When asked whether it was a fully developed baby or a fetus, Warrant Officer Van Rooyen stated that the pregnancy was determined to be approximately eight months, adding that “in essence [it was] fully developed,” but noted that complete information will emerge as the investigation progresses.
Police have opened a case of concealment of birth for investigation. At this stage, no arrests have been made.
SAPS said investigations are continuing and urged anyone with information that could assist to contact their nearest police station.
