MAHIKENG — The Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Dr Desbo Mohono, has welcomed Hon Masego Dorcas Kodisang as a new Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) representing ActionSA, following her swearing-in on Monday, 12 January 2026.

Kodisang’s appointment comes after the resignation of Hon Kwena Mangope, creating a casual vacancy that ActionSA filled by nominating Kodisang as the next eligible candidate.

In line with Section 107 of the Constitution and Schedule 2, Kodisang took the required oath/affirmation of faithfulness to the Republic and obedience to the Constitution before assuming her duties in the legislature.

According to the Speaker’s office, Kodisang holds a BA Honours in Business Management and previously served as a PR councillor at Moretele Local Municipality, as well as chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) since 2021.

Mohono said the new MPL is expected to strengthen the legislature’s work across its core mandates of oversight, law-making and public participation, including through committee work in the 7th Provincial Legislature.
