MAHIKENG — Minister in The Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has praised the strong turnout of young people at the Mahikeng 8th Annual Interdenominational Youth Prayer, saying she was encouraged to see youth “so devoted” to their faith across different Christian denominations.
Ntshavheni delivered the keynote address on Friday, 9 January 2026 at the Mmabatho Civic Centre, where the gathering, hosted by the Mafikeng Interdenominational Youth Movement (MIYM), focused on the theme “Walking with God in agreement.”

Speaking to the youth, Ntshavheni urged them to remain committed to prayer, but stressed that faith must be matched with action.
“She encouraged young people to be active citizens,” organisers said, adding that the minister’s message was clear: young people should “pray and do” — continuing to seek spiritual guidance while also taking practical steps to improve their lives and communities.
The event formed part of a busy week in the North West, with the minister and other senior ANC leaders in the province in the build-up to the party’s annual January 8 statement, marking 114 years of the organisation’s existence.
The programme included praise and worship, a healing service led by clergy and prayer delegates, and prayers centred on challenges facing communities, including unemployment, financial pressure, mental health and social ills.
