For the first time in more than a decade, the town of Vryburg will once again be represented at provincial league level, thanks to Nkamodira Football Club’s historic promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

The last team from Vryburg to play in this prestigious league was Keleku FC, over ten years ago. Now, Nkamodira FC steps into that long-vacant spotlight — and the entire region is celebrating.

“Thank you to all the support — finally the boys made it ❤️,” the club posted on Facebook following the announcement.

Their promotion was sealed after an emphatic 4–0 victory over Swartruggens FC in the semi-finals, sending Nkamodira through to the finals of the regional playoffs and confirming their place in South Africa’s third-tier league.

This achievement is not just a win for Nkamodira FC, but a revival for Vryburg football, which has long awaited a club capable of climbing the professional ranks. Local football lovers still remember the era of Keleku FC — now, a new generation will rally behind Nkamodira as they write their own chapter.

The ABC Motsepe League is South Africa’s third division, managed by the South African Football Association (SAFA). The league is provincial, with each province hosting its own stream of clubs. Top teams from each stream compete in national playoffs, with promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship (formerly GladAfrica Championship) on the line.

Nkamodira FC’s journey from local underdogs to provincial contenders has been driven by community support, discipline, and raw talent. With the ABC Motsepe League now in sight, the club will face stronger competition, more travel, and increased pressure — but the players seem more than ready.
